Private Tour of the New Kirkland Museum

Friday, November 9th, 11:00 am

1201 Bannock St., Denver

$25 Members, $30 Non-Members

CAE is proud to announce a VIP tour of the new Kirkland Museum of Fine and Decorative Arts offered exclusively for us by Gerald Horner, the museum’s Deputy Director.

The state of the art museum designed by Jim Olson sits in the heart of Denver’s Golden Triangle Creative District.  Its interior features a long Promenade Gallery down the center that ends in Vance Kirkland’s original studio and art school built in 1910-11, which was moved from its former location at 13th and Pearl.

The collection is arranged “salon style”, with 18 display areas off of the Promenade and over 4,300 works on view.  Paintings and sculpture are shown in the same galleries with furniture and decorative art.  Few museums display in this fashion, and it provides an intimate view into the décor of various eras, from Arts and Crafts to Art Nouveau, Bauhaus to Pop and Postmodern, to name a few.

Feel free to gather for coffee at CAE at 9:30 am and carpool down together, or meet us at the museum.  The tour will last approximately 45 minutes, and we are welcome to stay longer to explore further on our own.  If you are interested, please join us for lunch afterwards at FIRE Restaurant in the Art Hotel, just two blocks away.

Anyone 13 or older is welcome, but our group will be limited, so sign up soon for this unique opportunity. The reservation deadline is October 30th.  Your participation assists CAE in providing arts related activities.  Support CAE with a tax deductible donation.
